Christmas was celebrated at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi, United Arab
Emirates on Friday, 23 December 2022 with an evening of prayers, carols, and
entertainment.
Delivering the welcome speech at the event, Ms. Medhavi Peiris, Charge d’ Affaires
a.i. highlighted the importance of celebrating multi-religious events as such, which
symbolizes Sri Lanka’s rich diversity and religious harmony.
Reverend Father Nayagam Roy Clarence Chaplain, the Apostolic Vicariate of
Southern Arabia, UAE, Yemen and Oman conducted the religious observances
bestowing blessings upon the participants and all Sri Lankans for a happy Christmas
and a prosperous year ahead. In his Christmas Message Rev. Roy Clarence,
emphasized the importance of this religious festival which brings everyone together
in a sprite of peace, harmony, and togetherness.
The Christmas ambience was generated, by setting up Christmas decorations at the
Embassy premises. Christmas Carols were performed by the Embassy staff, the Sri
Lankan community in Abu Dhabi including children. The guests were entertained
with music and dinner arranged by the Embassy.
The event concluded on a note of happiness, unity among all Sri Lankans living in
Abu Dhabi, UAE, looking forward for a Christmas and a New Year full of peace and
happiness.
