The Embassy of Sri Lanka together with Sri Lankan expatriates of all faiths living in Abu Dhabi celebrated Christmas by conducting a Christmas Carol Service on 21 December 2018 at the Embassy premises. Sri Lanka Cultural Foundation, under the patronage of the Embassy organized the Abu Dhabi Christmas Carol and a large number of Sri Lankans gathered at the event.
The Charge d’ Affaires of the Embassy Mr. Sabarulla Khan addressing the event indicated the importance of Christmas in teaching how to live in coexistence with other faiths and how empathetic Christianity towards other religions. He thanked Sri Lanka Cultural Foundation for organizing such an amazing evening and for striving to gather Sri Lankans living in Abu Dhabi irrespective of their religions to one platform for celebrating Christmas.
The event was adorned by Carol sung in both Sinhala and English by children and adults of all faiths of the Sri Lankan community and Three choirs led by Mr. Kalana de Silva, Mr. Charith Rumayanga and Mr. Senaka Mendis performed at the Carol event. Further, the Embassy premises were brightened with Christmas decorations and Christmas Santa distributed gifts among all children participated at the event.
In concluding the event, refreshments were served for all attendees.
