Lulu Group International, the UAE-based retail giant has donated an amount of AED 368,000.00, equivalent to USD 100,000.00 to the National Floods and Landslides Victims Operations in Sri Lanka.
Mr. Yusuf Ali, M.A. the Chairman of Lulu Group International in Abu Dhabi handed over a cheque for AED 368,000.00 to His Excellency the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in UAE, Mr. S. J. Mohideen at a function held in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of senior officials of the Lulu Group and the Sri Lankan Embassy.
After handing over the cheque, Mr. Yusuf Ali shared his thoughts about those who became the victims of the recent floods and landslides, which has left over 600,000 people displaced and over 250 people dead. Indicating the Year of Giving 2017, an initiative of the UAE Government, Mr.Yusuf Ali emphasized the importance of lending a helping hand to the disadvantaged and affected people in Sri Lanka at this need of the hour.
Receiving the cheque, His Excellency the Ambassador thanked the Lulu Group International and its Chairman, Mr. Yusuf Ali for his noble gesture, stating that this natural disaster is one of the worst disasters in the history of Sri Lanka that has resulted in the loss of a number of lives and property. Lulu Group International has extended its gracious gesture together with the international community to those who are affected in Sri Lanka at this most needed hour, the Ambassador further noted.
