““Ramadan Kareem – Harmony Without Boundaries”

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi Celebrates Ramadan

 

In commemoration of the holy month of Ramadan, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates in collaboration with the Sri Lankan community, hosted an ‘Iftar’ for the Sri Lankan Muslims living in UAE on 08 April 2022 at the Embassy premises. The event was held under the theme of “Ramadan Kareem – Harmony without Boundaries” and it was attended by Sri Lankan Muslims as well as Buddhists, Hindus and Catholics, which demonstrated the harmony among all ethnic groups.

Ambassador Malraj De Silva, in his welcome remarks extended best wishes to all Muslims living across the world, on this auspicious celebration of Ramadan. The Ambassador extended thanks to Sri Lankan Muslims in the UAE for their contribution towards the country at all difficult times. Further, he emphasized the importance of enhancing the bonds of friendship, cultivating love among humanity as well as the cultural harmonization among all ethnic groups, which could help to derive the country’s prosperity and requested all Sri Lankans to help the country in their possible ways, at this difficult time.

The keynote speaker of the occasion, Moulavi Sarfaraz Mahroof Deen, in his remarks enunciated the value and rationale of Ramadan. By quoting the passages from Holy book of Islam, “the Quran”, he accentuated the need of performing benevolent acts of charity and good will toward others.

The event flourished with good thoughts shared by Sri Lankan Muslims who attended the event and was followed by the Iftar dinner which included Sri Lankan cuisine.
