The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates organized an event for multi religious observances on Friday, 26 April 2019 at the Embassy in memory of Sri Lankans and foreign nationals who lost their lives at the Easter Sunday attacks that took place in Sri Lanka on 21 April 2019.
The event commenced with the singing of National Anthem followed by observing two minuets silence to pay respect to people who lost their lives due to the attacks.
Before commencing the religious observances Mr. Sabarullah Khan, the Charge d’ Affaires of the Embassy addressed the gathering.
Ven. Rammuthugala Buddhawansa Thero, Pastor Jonty Kaldera, Mawulavi Mohammed Safras Mahrufdeen, Mr. Asitha Fernando and Mr. Devanand Mahadeva conducted the religious observances representing all the religions Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity and Islam.
On behalf of the Muslim Community, Mr. Mohammed Amri expressed the condolences to those who affected by the incident.
Around 200 Sri Lankans and media personalities attended the event and participants paid floral tributes and candle memorials in memory of their beloved fellow Sri Lankans at the end of the event.
