Visa on Arrival Information:

  • Not Available For

On arrival visas are not available for the nationals of Afghanistan, Cameroon, Columbia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Nepal, Nigeria, North Korea, Myanmar, Pakistan, Syria, Yemen and Uzbekistan.

  • Free visa on arrival at the port of entry :

Nationals of China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia and Japan may obtain free visa on arrival at the port of entry to Sri Lanka.

  • Visa Application Procedure for Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan:

Applicants from Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan who wish to visit Sri Lanka must visit the Sri Lankan Embassy to submit a visa request. The following documents are required:

  • A duly filled visa application form.
  • The bio-data page of a valid travel document (with at least 6 months validity at the time of entry to Sri Lanka).
  • A valid email address of the applicant.

After a satisfactory interview by the Embassy official, the visa request will be forwarded to the Department of

Immigration and Emigration in Sri Lanka. A confirmation email regarding the decision will be sent to the applicant.

Important: Only eligible applicants can obtain a visa on arrival. It is advised to arrive in Sri Lanka only after receiving the confirmation email. Applicants may use either a hard or soft copy of this confirmation to board flights and enter Sri Lanka.

Procedure to follow for the nationals of below countries:

Afghanistan, Cameroon, Columbia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Madagascar, Nigeria, North Korea, Syria, Yemen and Uzbekistan.

Applicants from countries where visa on arrival is not available must submit their documents through a Sri Lankan representative at the Department of Immigration and Emigration in Sri Lanka. The required documents include:

  • A request letter from the Sri Lankan representative.
  • A National Identity Card or a copy of the Sri Lankan Passport of the representative.
  • An affidavit undertaking responsibility for the applicant’s visit.
  • A copy of the applicant’s travel document. o A police report of the applicant.
  • Flight booking details. o Accommodation details. o         Valid email addresses of both the applicant and the Sri Lankan representative.
